Katelyn Hurley allowed just three hits as the Kentucky State University softball team completed the three-game Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference sweep of LeMoyne-Owen Monday, 15-0, at Lakeview Park.
"We did a good job today of sticking to our approach and hitting hard shots on our pitch to hit," said Kentucky State University head coach
David Morton. "We also played solid defense with no errors and had a strong pitching performance."
Hurley (Elizabeth, IN) improved to 5-2 on the season by hurling the complete game three hitter with four strikeouts. Only two Magicians reached second base against her.
Offensively, KSU scored in three of its four at-bats, including a seven-run fourth to put the game away.
Junior
Sasha Allen (West Covina, CA) paced the offense, going 4-for-4 with three runs scored and four RBI. It was her sixth multi-hit game and a career-best four hits in a game. Senior
Jackie Zubiate (Riverside, CA) added a career-high four RBI, going 2-for-3 with a double and homerun. She has 11 multi-hit games this season, including reaching the feat in seven of the last nine games.
Sophomore
Moana Pinner (Hilo, HI) had her second three-hit game of the season with three runs scored, while senior
Natalia Bocanegra (Covina, CA) and senior
Jittaun Thompson (Pomona, CA) both added a pair of hits.
Kentucky State (14-14 overall, 6-4 SIAC) steps away from SIAC action with a non-conference doubleheader 1 p.m. Wednesday at Salem University.
