Miana Wallace had a career night, but the Kentucky State University volleyball team fell 3-1 (26-24, 18-25, 25-20, 25-14) in non-conference action to Asbury in Bell Gymnasium Monday.
Wallace (Lees Summitt, Mo.) recorded the first double-digit kill match of her career with 11 kills on 21 attempts with just two errors for a hitting percentage of .429. She added four block assists and two digs in the match.
Kentucky State shook off a slow start in the opening set and were on the verge of a victory, leading 24-21. However, the Eagles tallied five straight to steal the first set.
The Thorobreds seemingly shook off the disappointment of the loss, and rebounded for the 25-18 victory. The third set was much like the first as Kentucky State held a late 20-18 lead. However, just like the opening set Asbury ended the set with a run – this time it was a 7-0 spurt that ended the set.
Asbury scored 13 of the last 17 points to seal the fourth set, and the match.
