Box Score 2 SALEM, WVa. – The Kentucky State University volleyball team split a pair of matches Tuesday in a tri-match, hosted by Salem University. After dispatching the host team in straight sets to push their winning streak to seven matches, the Thorobreds fell in five sets to Ohio Valley.
KENTUCKY STATE 3, SALEM 0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-13)
Kentucky State hit .390 as a team with 32 kills on 59 attempts with just nine errors in breezing past the host-Wildcats.

Sasha Bills (Mesa, Ariz.) was the primary distributor of the offense with 24 of the team's 30 assists. It's the eighth straight match with double-figure kills, her 15th this season and the third time she has reached the 20-assist plateau.

Robin Poole (Katy, Texas) led the team with seven kills on 12 attempts with a team-best eight assists. As a team, the Thorobreds recorded 16 services as with junior
Oyuky Benitez (Laveen, Ariz.) and sophomore
Jalyn Barnett (Detroit, Mich.) tallying three aces each. Benitez finished with a team-high five digs.

Jalynn Roberts (Davenport, Iowa) put away six of her seven attempts for a team-high hitting percentage of .714.
OHIO VALLEY 3, KENTUCKY STATE 2 (20-25, 21-25, 25-19, 25-22, 7-15)
After dropping the first two sets, Kentucky State stormed back to force a fifth set. However, they could complete the comeback in falling to Ohio Valley – 20-25, 21-25, 25-19, 25-22, 7-15.
Kentucky State tied a season-high with 67 kills in the non-conference five-setter.
Roberts tied a career-high with 15 kills on 28 attempts with four errors, while senior
Tapanga Moten (New Orleans, La.) also recorded 15 kills with two errors. She achieved the mark on 20 attempts. Poole was the third person with double-digit kills, putting down 12 on 26 attempts and five errors.
Both setters established new career marks with Bills topping the 30-assist mark for the first time this season, while Barnett tallied 27 assists. Benitez finished with 21 assists.
Kentucky State (13-7 overall, 10-1 SIAC) returns to action 6:30 p.m. Wednesday with a home match against the University of Charleston (2-13 overall).
