A pair of wins complete Crossover sweep

ALBANY, GA - The Kentucky State University volleyball team finished the 2018 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Crossover event unbeaten as they recorded a pair of wins Friday.

The Thorobreds knocked off host Albany State, 3-1 in their first game, and then claimed another 3-1 victory over Clark Atlanta to complete the five-game sweep of the weekend.

KENTUCKY STATE 3, ALBANY STATE 1 (25-18, 25-21, 13-25, 25-23)
Sophomore setter Gabriella Gracia (Trullia Alto, Puerto Rico) recorded her second double-double of the season with 34 assists and 13 digs to lead the Thorobreds.

A pair of Kentucky State volleyball players finished with double-figure kills as senior Arlandria Greathouse (Crowley, TX) and sophomore Robin Poole (Katy, TX) had 13 kills each.

Freshman Alliyah Williams (Sugar Land, TX) led the team with 17 digs, while sophomore Jalynn Roberts (Davenport, IA) was a force at the net with five blocks, three solo blocks and two block assists.

Gracia continued her stretch of 30-plus assists match as she also recorded back-to-back doubles with 43 assists and 11 digs. It was the sixth consecutive match with more than 30 digs, and the second time this season she finished with more than 40 assists.

Greathouse was the primary recipient of precise passing as the senior finished with 16 kills on just 25 attempts and four errors for an astounding hitting percentage of .480. She has registered double-digit kills in four straight matches, and five of the last six.

Poole finished with her fifth double-double of the season with 14 kills and 11 assists. She was one of four players to have at least 10 digs. Williams led the way with 13 digs, followed by Gracia's 11 and 10 from sophomore Makayla Martin (Combine, TX).

The Thorobreds, who improved to 8-2 in the SIAC and 12-16 overall, returns home Tuesday to host a tri-match at the Exum Center.
