Double-doubles galore for @KYSUWBB

Three players recorded double-doubles as the Kentucky State University women's basketball team recorded the 95-73 victory over Clark Atlanta Monday in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action at the William Exum Center.

Sophomore Erica Jones (South Haven, MS) scored a career-high 29 points with 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the season, and her fifth in her career. Junior Amani Williams (Scotch Plains, NJ) distributed a career-best 10 assists to go along with 10 points for her first career double-double.

Senior Brooke Wallace (Oberlin, OH) continued her double-double train with 10 points and 10 rebounds. It's the seventh double-double this season and the 13th in the last two seasons for the 6-3 forward.

Things looked bleak early for the Thorobreds as Clark Atlanta connected on four of its first five shots in scoring 13 of the game's first 17 points. Three of the four conversions came from beyond the arc. The Panthers finished with eight three-pointers, the second most makes for Clark Atlanta this season.
However, Jones started to come alive.

The forward scored seven straight points as KSU tallied 12 consecutive to take its first lead of the game. The 12-0 spurt evolved into a 29-7 run as the Thorobreds built a 12-point lead midway through the second quarter. Twenty of the 29 points came in the paint as Kentucky State began to dominate around the basket.

It was a microcosm of the remainder of the game as the home team scored 66 points in the paint, 34 in transition and 24 on second-chance opportunities.
By the end of the second quarter, Kentucky State led by 15 points.

KSU's advantage grew to more than 20 points on several occasions in the second half. But, the Panthers wouldn't wilt under pressure as they had a run to pull to within 11 points. As quickly as CAU got to within 11, the Thorobreds buried Clark Atlanta with 14 of the next 18 points.

Kentucky State (7-5 overall, 2-3 SIAC), winners of four straight, will be off for 12 days before returning to the hardwood on December 29 with a home non-conference game against Illinois Springfield.
