The Kentucky State University volleyball team concluded the 2018 regular season with an easy straight set (25-14, 25-11, 25-14) Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory over rival Central State Tuesday in the Exum Center.
With the victory, the Thorobreds will be the West Division's second seed in the upcoming 2018 SIAC Volleyball Championships. Kentucky State will face the third seed from the East Division 11 a.m. Monday at the Sportsplex in Birmingham, AL. The victory also secures the sixth straight 20-win season for the Thorobreds.
Kentucky State hit a whopping .351 with 35 kills on 74 attempts and just nine errors in the match. The .351 hitting percentage was a season-best for the Thorobreds. It was such a dominating performance that KSU trailed one time, 3-2 in the second set, all match long.
Senior
Arlandria Greathouse (Crowley, TX) led the way with eight kills on 10 attempts and zero errors, while sophomore
Robin Poole (Katy, TX) finished with seven kills on 12 attempts and two errors. Senior
Brooke Moore (Bloomfield, MI) added six kills on 13 attempts with two errors.
The sophomoric setting duo of
Amanda Moore (Caddo Mills, TX) and
Gabriella Gracia (Trullia Alto, Puerto Rico) combined for all 34 assists and eight of the 12 service aces.
Freshman
Alliyah Williams (Sugar Land, TX) led the team with eight digs and sophomore
Makayla Martin (Combine, TX) finished with seven.
Before the game, the KSU athletic department honored the contributions of the program's three seniors,
Cierra Couch (Indianapolis, IN), Moore and Greathouse.
