KSU Drops First Home Match of the Season to Georgetown College, 3-1

Box Score Frankfort, Ky-- Kentucky State University suffered a 3-1 loss against Georgetown College on Thursday evening at the Exum Center.

The Thorobrettes (4-2) came into the match winning four of their first five on the season. The Lady Tigers (6-1) have now won two of their last three matches.

KSU took the first set 25-22, with a late surge following three lead changes and four ties. After trailing 22-20, the Thorobrettes held GC scoreless for a 5-0 run off a host of errors to take an early advantage over the visitors.

The Thorobrettes were unable to take control following a strong comeback by GC in the second set. KSU attempted rallies through the final two sets but fell short on self-inflicted errors. Dropping the last three straight sets.

Sophomore setter Hannah Smyers, lead the team with 28 assists, marking the sixth time this season, the Needville, Texas native led the Thorobreds in the assists category.

Freshman outside hitter Robin Moore recorded her third straight double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs. Junior middle blocker Landri Greathouse led the home squad with 11 kills.

The Thorobrettes head to Romeoville, Ill for the Lewis University Tri Match on Sept. 16. KSU is set to play two matches, Lewis University will start the day at 10 a.m., and Rockhurst University will follow at 4 p.m.
