Danville, Ky.—Kentucky State University volleyball dropped it's nonconference road contest against Centre College 3-2, on Wednesday evening.

The Thorobreds (13-8, 9-2) had their three-match win streak come to an end with the loss and are now 4-5 in non-conference matchups. The Colonels (8-9) have won back-to-back matches and have won four of their last five.

KSU started off strong taking the first two sets of the evening at 25-20 and 25-18, following strong performances by the freshman duo of outside hitters Makayla Martin and Robin Poole.

The third stanza proved to be a hiccup for the young visiting squad committing 13 errors in the 25-20 loss. In the fourth set, the Colonels added to their attack, registering another 25-20 win, forcing a fifth and final frame.

CC gained an early four-point advantage, but KSU rallied to tie-tie the match at 11-11, before falling 15-13.

Poole and Martin each registered double-doubles in kills and digs, with Martin leading the way with 16 kills and 13 digs.

Sophomore Hannah Smyers turned in another solid performance as she accounted for the fourth match of the season with 30 or more assists, at 39 on the night.

KSU will travel to West Virginia for a weekend tri-match Salem International University, facing off with the Lady Tigers and Bluefield State University beginning at 1:00 pm ET and concluding at 3:00 pm ET.
