Fairfield, Ala.—Sophomore running back Brett Sylve rushed for 107 yards as Kentucky State University football dropped its second SIAC contest of the season 35-0 to Miles College on Saturday afternoon at Sloan Alumni Stadium.

The Thorobreds (2-5, 1-2) have now dropped three consecutive games, as the Golden Bears (4-3, 2-1) have won four of their last five contest, and has jumped ahead of KSU in the west division standings to No. 2.

Sylve's performance marked the third time this season he has rushed past the century mark and the sixth time he has accounted for over 150 all-purpose yards on the season.

MC stayed steady throughout the game, adding to its lead with at least one touchdown score per quarter, hitting big plays through the air and on the ground. On each of the five scoring drives for the Golden Bears, they picked up at least one play of 25 yards or more, including three plays of over 45 yards leading to scores.

As an offense, KSU moved the ball accounting for 235 total yards, and controlled the time of possession by more than 15 minutes. Going into Saturday's game, KSU had been averaging 21.5 points per game, with the only blemish being at McKendree University in a 50-0 loss. The shutout by MC is only the second time in 2017 KSU was held under 21 points.

Junior linebacker Andre Miles accounted for a team-high 12 tackles, and it's the second time this season he has picked up over 10 wrap-ups in a game. Miles currently leads KSU in tackles with 54, ranking him in the top 10 of the SIAC. Christopher Goodman followed up with his best performance of the season with eight tackles, two tackles for a loss, and a sack.
