Campbellsville, Ky.—Kentucky State University volleyball dropped a 3-1 affair to Campbellsville University on Tuesday evening at the Powell Athletic Center.

The Thorobrettes (1-4) were led by senior middle blocker
Kirtrice Ploucha who finished with a team-high 13 kills on 27 total attacks, registering a .357 hitting efficiency. Outside hitter Annija Abolina collected a game-high 15 kills on 28 total attacks, earning a .429 hitting efficiency for Campbellsville.

KSU jumped out to an 8-2 advantage in the first set, but CU came back with a 13-6 advantage to take the lead at 16-14. KSU later tied the set at 16 a piece and stormed ahead with a 19-16 lead in full control. The host squad would not be denied as they followed the deficit with a 9-3 scoring stretch to take the first set 25-22.

KSU took another early lead in the second set, leading 6-4 before the Tigers went on a 13-8 run to take a 17-14 lead. The Thorobrettes took control of the rest of the set, outscoring CU 8-3 to win the set and tie the match 1-1.

KSU was unable to continue their momentum from its second set victory, dropping the next two sets to CU 25-19 and 25-12 en route to its fourth loss of the season.

Campbellsville next plays Cumberland University on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in the Powell Athletic Center. The Thorobrettes play their next three matches on Friday in the SIAC Cluster at the Exum Center. KSU will kick off Friday against Miles College at 9:00 a.m., followed by Spring Hill College at 2:00 p.m and Lemoyne-Owen College at 6:00 p.m.
