SIAC Bracket

Frankfort, Ky.— Kentucky State University volleyball will take on Albany State University in the opening round of the SIAC Volleyball Tournament Championship Wednesday afternoon at noon from the Crossplex in Birmingham, Ala.
 
The Thorobrettes (18-16, 12-4) will represent the West Division as the No. 1 seed with Spring Hill College still in the process of transitioning to NCAA Division II status. KSU is the reigning and defending tournament champs from 2015.  
 
The Lady Rams (14-14, 10-7) sit as the No. 4 seed in the East Division and have lost three of their final four matches heading into the tournament.
 
Earlier in the season on Sept. 23, KSU swept ASU 3-0 in the SIAC Crossover, hosted by the Lady Rams. Senior outside hitter Sherry'ce Butler set the tone for the Thorobrettes, as she notched 11 kills in the victory.
 
The tournament will be double elimination, and the winner of KSU and ASU will face off with the winner of Clark Atlanta University and Lemoyne-Owen College, later in the evening at 8 p.m. ET.
 
A winner will be crowned on Friday night with the championship match slated for 6 p.m. ET.
 
Also announced on Tuesday were the selections for the SIAC First and Second teams. Senior Libero Micah Rogers was selected to the first team, while senior outside hitter Tahje Ochs and sophomore middle blocker Payton Richardson were named to the second team.
 
Rogers finished the 2016 campaign with a team-high 439 digs and second on the team in assists with 136.
 
Richardson and Ochs ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in total kills for the Thorobrettes, as the duo combined for 516 on the year, ranking as the top pair in the conference.
