Box Score 2 CEDARVILLE, Ohio – The Kentucky State volleyball team split a pair of matches, winning 3-0 over rival Central State but falling 3-0 to Cedarville on Tuesday at Cedarville University.
The Thorobrettes were in control throughout the match with Central State, winning the three sets by the scores of 25-13, 25-6, and 25-10. Kentucky State went on several runs to pull away in each set, including a 12-1 surge to account for the lopsided victory in the second set.
Payton Richardson had a match-high 10 kills and hit .692 to lead the way for the Thorobrettes. Kirtrice Ploucha added six kills with a .444 hitting percentage, while Micah Rogers had five kills while hitting .714. Anjelique Kyle recorded 12 assists and six service aces, while Kiara Rivera led the team with five digs.
In the first match, Kentucky State dropped the three sets by the scores of 25-19, 25-19, and 25-17. Rogers led the Thorobrettes with seven kills, while Ochs had seven with a team-high .294 hitting percentage. Kyle had 20 assists and five block assists, while Rivera led the team with nine digs.
With Tuesday's results, Kentucky State comes away at 20-12 overall and 18-1 in SIAC competition. Cedarville stands at 17-13, while Central State drops to 4-24 overall and 4-15 in the SIAC. The Thorobrettes and Central State wrap up their conference schedules when they face off again Wednesday at Central State.
