Box Score WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. -- The Kentucky State volleyball team fell 3-1 in a non-conference match with in-state opponent University of the Cumberlands on Monday night.

The Thorobrettes jumped out to an early lead with a 25-19 victory in the first set, but the Patriots came back to take the next three to clinch the match. Cumberlands pulled even with a 25-15 win in the second set, then held off the Thorobrettes 26-24 in a closely contested third set. The Patriots closed out the match with a 25-19 win in the fourth set.

Micah Rogers led Kentucky State with 10 kills, while Tahje Ochs tallied eight kills with a team-high hitting percentage of .273 and 16 digs. Kirtrice Ploucha and Payton Richardson also had eight kills, while Anjelique Kyle led all players with 31 assists.

Jennifer Philpot of Cumberlands led all players with 17 kills, while teammate Morgan Schaltter contributed 12.

Kentucky State falls to 18-10 on the season with the loss, while Cumberlands improves to 24-8. The Thorobrettes now return to Frankfort for their final two home matches of the season when they host Asbury on Nov. 3 and St. Catharine on Nov. 5, both at the Exum Center at 7 p.m.
