Women’s Volleyball Wraps Up SIAC West Division Cluster – Day 2 Recap

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Kentucky State University women's volleyball team (5-5, 5-1 SIAC) finished off the SIAC West Division Cluster with three convincing wins on Saturday, Sept. 13, at the Exum Center. The Thorobrette's played a total of six matches over the two-day tournament, going 5-1 to begin their conference schedule.
 
Match 1 – Kentucky State defeats Tuskegee, 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-14)
In the opening match of the second and final day of the SIAC West Division Cluster, the Thorobrette's ran away with a victory against Tuskegee. As a team, KSU finished with 39 kills and a .302 attack percentage compared to just 22 kills and a .024 attack percentage for TU.
 
Emily Grieshaber (11) and Latosha Scott (10) both finished with double digit kills and Alicia Fowler led the team with 21 assists.
 
Match 2 – Kentucky State defeats Lane, 3-0 (25-4, 25-6, 25-7)
In their second match on Saturday the Thorobrette's easily dispatched of Lane College. Lane, which fielded just six players, mustered just a pair of kills compared to 41 for Kentucky State. As a team, Kentucky State tallied 23 service aces.
 
Kentucky State had the chance to rotate their lineup quite a bit against the Lady Dragons. Seven Thorobrette's finished the match with at least two kills. Alicia Fowler picked up 24 assists while facilitating the KSU offense.
 
Match 3 – Kentucky State defeats LeMoyne-Owen, 3-0 (25-11, 25-12, 25-10)
In their final match of the tournament the Thorobrette's cruised to their fifth conference win. KSU picked up 43 of their tournament-high 274 kills. Latosha Scott led the team with 14 kills, part of her tournament leading 4.22 kills per set. Anjelique Kyle led the Thorobrette's with 28 assists. She finished the tournament with 174 in six matches.
 
Next up for Kentucky State is a rescheduled match against Midway College on Tuesday, Sept. 16, before the team heads to Fort Valley State for the SIAC Volleyball Crossover on Sept. 18-20.
