FRANKFORT, Ky. – Senior second baseman
Kyle Clark and junior outfielder
Justin Cain are spending their summer playing in the Lewis & Clark Baseball League located in St. Louis, Missouri.
Â
The Lewis & Clark Baseball League, or LCBL, is a collegiate summer baseball league that gives current student-athletes the opportunity to participate in an organized baseball league while still taking classes or participating in an internship. The summer season runs from June through early August in the St. Louis metropolitan area.
Â
The league, which started in 2013, currently consists of 10 teams in two different conferences. Clark and Cain both play for the Captains of the Clark conference.
Â
Clark was recently named the starting second baseman for the Clark conference after hitting .318 for the Captains with 10 RBI through the first half of the season. Clark is also tied for fifth in the LCBL with four homeruns. Cain, who stole 24 bases for the Thorobreds this past season, leads the LCBL with 15 stolen bases. Cain stole a season-high four bases in a single game against the Diplomats on June 16.
Â
The Captains, 15-7 overall, are currently tied with the Voyagers for first place in the Clark conference just over half way through the season.
