Box Score 2 BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Kentucky State University Thorobrettes fell the Claflin University Lady Panthers in a hotly contested 5-set semifinal round match on Wednesday at the 2014 SIAC Women's Volleyball Championship Tournament being held at the Birmingham Crossplex.
KSU, the top-seed out of the West Division, fell to Claflin, the top-seed from the East Division, 3-2 (19-25, 25-20, 24-26, 25-18, 16-14) on Wednesday morning.
Despite the loss, Kentucky State is still in contention for the SIAC Championship because of the tournaments double elimination format.
The Thorobrettes turned around and defeated #2E Benedict, 3-1 (26-28, 25-18, 25-15, 25-20) at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday to stay alive. With a win over the Lady Tigers, Kentucky State moves on to the championship round on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
The Thorobrettes will need a pair of wins against undefeated #1E Claflin to secure their fourth SIAC Championship in the last five seasons.
