Box Score

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –
The Kentucky State University Thorobrettes extended their bid for another SIAC women's volleyball championship when they defeated #2E Benedict in the quarterfinal round of the 2014 SIAC Women's Volleyball Championship Tournament being held at the Birmingham Crossplex.

KSU, the top-seed out of the West Division, defeated the Lady Tigers, 3-0 (25-16, 25-9, 25-22) on Tuesday afternoon.

As a team Kentucky State hit a scorching .390 to overwhelm Benedict on their way to sweep of the Lady Tigers and a berth in the semifinal round. BC hit just .080 as a team and committed 21 attack errors compared to just seven for KSU.

Senior Latosha Scott led the way for the Thorobrettes with 10 kills on just 13 attack attempts. That was good for a .769 attack percentage, a season-high for a match in which she had more than 11 attack attempts. Sophomore setter Anjelique Kyle was once again the facilitator for KSU, picking up 27 assists on Tuesday. Junior libero Kiara Rivera had a match-high 15 digs.

Kentucky State now draws the top-seed out of the East Division, Claflin University, in the quarterfinal round on Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 11 a.m. (ET). With a win on Wednesday the Thorobrettes would be just one win away for their fourth SIAC championship in the last five seasons. Due to the double elimination style of the Championship Tournament, the loser of Wednesday's match will play #2E Benedict at 1 p.m. (ET) on Wednesday for the chance to play in the championship match on Thursday afternoon.
