Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Kentucky State University Thorobrettes began their quest for another SIAC women's volleyball championship when they defeated #4E Clark Atlanta in the opening round of the 2014 SIAC Women's Volleyball Championship Tournament being held at the Birmingham Crossplex.

Kentucky State is looking to secure their fourth SIAC Women's Volleyball Championship (2010-11, 2013) in the last five seasons.KSU, the top-seed out of the West Division, defeated the Lady Panthers, 3-1 (21-25, 25-14, 25-16, 25-20) on Monday afternoon in the fourth and final match of the opening round.

After dropping the first set, KSU settled in and dispatched Clark Atlanta to move on to the quarterfinal round.
The Thorobrettes had three players finish with double digit kills.
Latosha Scott, announced as a member of the All-SIAC First Team before the tournament, finished with a team-high 14 kills.
Emily Grieshaber, who was announced as the SIAC Player of the Year for the second season in a row earlier in the day, finished with 13 kills.
Ileen Brown finished with 10 kills.

Kiara Rivera, just named the SIAC Newcomer of the Year, led KSU with 20 digs. SIAC Setter of the Year
Anjelique Kyle finished the match with a match-high 48 assists.

Kentucky State now draws #2E Benedict College in the quarterfinal round on Tuesday, Nov. 11. The Thorobrettes square off against the Lady Tigers in the fourth match of the day with first serve scheduled for 1 p.m. (ET).
