Kentucky State Falls to Tuskegee in First Match of SIAC Volleyball Tournament

 ALBANY, Ga. (November 8, 2012) - The 2012 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Championship Tournament began Wednesday at host institution Albany State University. The Kentucky State Thorobrettes entered this year's tournament as the No. 1 team in the West Division and had a first-round bye.

The seventh match of the day featured one of the first major upsets of the tournament when the number three ranked Tigerettes of Tuskegee University defeated the number one seed from the West Division, the Thorobrettes of Kentucky State University (KSU).  The five-game marathon win keeps the Tigerettes in the winner's bracket while the loss in their first tournament match sends the Thorobrettes to the loser's bracket.

Alysia Turner finished with match with eight kills, one service ace, 12 digs, and two block assists for Tuskegee.  The Thorobrettes were led by outside hitter Emily Grieshaber who finished with 15 kills, three service aces, and 11 digs.
The Tigerettes move on to meet the number two seed in the East, Claflin University at 4 p.m., while the Thorobrettes will play No. 6 in the West, Lane College at 12 noon.
